Week #9-10
Lenka Clayton is an interdisciplinary artist whose work considers, exaggerates, and alters the accepted rules of everyday life, extending the familiar into the realms of the poetic and absurd.
In previous works, she has searched for and photographed every person mentioned by name in a German newspaper; worked with artists who identify as blind to recreate Brancusi’s Sculpture for the Blind from a spoken description; and reconstituted a lost museum from a sketch found in an archive.

Week #6
Apple Sculpture
This week we will be carving apples into art! Using a knife or (preferably) an x-acto blade, carefully carve into your apple removing the skin or shaping the fruit into the shape of your choice. You have to move relatively quickly to get a photograph before the fruit turns brown. If you don't have an apple, any fruit or vegetable will do. Have a look at the Japanese artist Gaku who carves beautiful and intricate patterns out of all sorts of fruits and veggies:

Week #4/5
Paula McCartney makes photographs and artist books that explore the idea of constructed landscapes and the way that people interact with and manipulate the natural world. I encourage you to look up her work!
Week #3
I bet you didn't think you would get to do ceramics while at home! This isn't quite the same as throwing pottery on the wheel but it is still fun. Download the app pottery.ly 3D Ceramic Maker and create a piece of ceramic art :). Take a picture of your finished work and post it on your website or to your instagram page and tag me so I can see it!
Week #2
Andy Goldsworthy is a British sculptor, renowned in his field, who creates temporary landscape art installations out of sticks and stones, and anything and everything else that he finds outside. “When I make something, in a field, street or altering the landscape, it may vanish, but it’s part of the history of those places”. Go into your yard on a walk through nature and collect materials to rearrange into a work of LAND ART. Take a photograph of your work and post it on your Instagram page or website. I look forward to seeing what you create!
Week #1
Hello! This is where you will find your learning opportunities each week. In order for you to share them with me (and possibly with each other) you need to create a visual portfolio. I want this to be as easy for you as possible and so, with that in mind, I want you to choose a platform you are comfortable with. My suggestion is that you create an artist instagram account. This will not be a personal account but a school friendly one that allows me to see what you have been working on from home. You can share images, videos, stories and other examples of your learning. Another option would be to create a Wix website or a Weebly one like this. They are very user friendly and you can include blog posts, videos, image galleries etc...I have found that they don't work as well from a phone, you will need a computer, ipad or laptop in order to edit the site properly. I am also open to other suggestions. If you have another way you would like to share your work please let me know. Also, if you have limited access to technology, please let me know. Once you have decided on which platform to use and started an instagram page or website (or other) please share the handle or site address with me so I can see your work :) If you have any questions I will respond to emails as quickly as possible. Please do not DM me. I hope you are all keeping well and I look forward to seeing your beautiful work.
*I will also be setting up a zoom meeting if you are interested in connecting with me and each other. This could be a way to troubleshoot, have your questions answered and chat with each other.
